“We believe the key to our success is our attitude of locally sourcing everything and treating each customer as special. Nothing is too much for our staff and customer satisfaction is always the top priority.”
Ian Clark, White Horse, Brigg
The team at the White Horse, Brigg in North Lincolnshire, is celebrating after winning the best pub category in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe’s Evening Telegraph’s Restaurant of the Year Awards 2010.

Punch Taverns’ White Horse came out on top when they were judged on their food quality and presentation, cleanliness and service quality. The public also voted the White Horse the best for overall experience.

The investment in reviving the pub’s appearance and customer offer since November has contributed to the pub’s success. The revamp of the kitchen, which includes new equipment and worktops, has significantly improved the working environment.

Partner, Ian Clark, comments: “Alan Clapham, our head chef, maintains high standards at all times and, with the support of an excellent team, our efforts have been recognised in the winning of this award.”

“We believe the key to our success is our attitude of locally sourcing everything and treating each customer as special. Nothing is too much for our staff and customer satisfaction is always the top priority.”

Ian and his team have worked hard to transform the pub into a thriving business almost overnight after it was previously earmarked for sale and in need of work to transform it.
Punch has recognised this and is investing £50K in a serious revamp to the pub’s interior and exterior within the next month.

“Our regional business manager, Mick Percival, has been extremely supportive and we couldn’t have won without him. This just shows how pubs can indeed be turned around with the right combination of partner and punch support. Our partnership is working superbly and we couldn’t ask for a better RBM!” added Ian.

Punch regional business manager, Mick Percival, adds: “I congratulate Ian and his team and am looking forward to being involved in working together to further improve the customer offer.”
